What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part-Time Disability Services Advisor position at Ivy Tech Community College?
GENERAL PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF THE POSITION: Responsible for providing services to ensure that students with disabilities have equitable access to opportunities available at the College. Assist in the implementation of procedures and processes for students with disabilities. Coordinate and organize Disability Support Services calendars/appointments and provide support to students in using accessibility tools available to them.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide services to assist students with identified accommodation needs and concerns that affect academic success.
- Assist in coordinating special accommodations with faculty for students with documented disabilities.
- Provide data entry services and maintenance of Disability Support Services documents in the electronic database.
- Assist students through the accommodation request process.
- Update and manage student intake packets and other Disability Support Services literature.
- Assemble and distribute Disability Services Provider materials as requested; process Service Provider logs and enter data into a spreadsheet for tracking and billing purposes.
- Provide training to students, faculty, and staff on the use of universal design tools as well as specialized equipment and technology that may be needed by students to deliver reasonable accommodations.
- Communicate concerns and provide necessary support and materials for faculty, staff, and other service providers to assist in the identification and development of methods to assist students.
- Establish and maintain referral resources to provide additional services for students.
- Maintain a high quality of confidentiality regarding student disability information and documentation.
- Conduct all activities within the established guidelines of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
- Assist with the development and implementation of programs and services that target at-risk students.
- Provide disability support advising/orientation during enrollment.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree.
- Experience in disability support services and/or experience working with special student populations required
- Ability to work with confidential information.
