What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part Time Welcome Center Receptionist position at Ivy Tech Community College?
The Part Time Welcome Center Receptionist greets all visitors in-person at the Enrollment Center information desk and inputs their information into queuing system to be seen by a member of the student affairs team. This position also answers phone calls and conducts other general clerical assignments and will be a source of information for visitors to campus.
Major Responsibilities:
Provide general information about admissions, registration, financial aid, orientation, assessment, and business support
Assist with all special projects and mailings, as well as provide filing, data entry, telephone and clerical assistance for the various departments in Student Affairs
Read and understand forms for all departments and provide proper forms to customers; Verify completeness of forms and accompanying materials; Maintain appropriate inventory of necessary student materials; Compile information packets and mail as requested by the Admissions office
Greet visitors and students, clarify and answer general questions, and/or enter student into queuing system to be seen by a member of the student affairs team.
Direct students to the correct location or refer to a member of the student affairs team.
Distribute general college and Admission information (e.g., catalogs/program brochures/course descriptions and forms) to students
Function effectively in a team environment
Maintain working knowledge of emergency/safety procedures as provided by supervisor; Be knowledgeable of the locations of the electronic and hard copy of procedures when applicable in order to deliver information as needed to customers
Conduct all activities within the established guidelines of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)

High School Diploma, GED or equivalent experience required.
Ability to use technology, including basic knowledge of Microsoft and Google applications as well as other software for Tier 1 level student support.
Strong communication and organizational skills
Administrative experience preferred
Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
Demonstrate evidence of ability to successfully work in a team environment

Preferred Qualifications:
Associate degree or equivalent work experience.
