What are the responsibilities and job description for the PT IN LSAMP Intern position at Ivy Tech Community College?
Peer Mentors are one of the primary LSAMP representatives responsible for interacting with students. They Identify and assist peers who struggle in designated STEM subject area. They also assist instructors with organizing labs.
Major Responsibilities
Meet with assigned faculty mentor weekly to discuss weekly assignments and receive guidance.
United States citizen or permanent resident.
Member of a historically underrepresented racial and ethnic minority group in STEM discipline (African American, Alaska Native, American Indian, Hispanic, Native Hawaiian and Native Pacific Islander).
Currently enrolled as a full-time student at Ivy Tech.
Enrolled in a STEM major that qualifies under the LSAMP NSF STEM Classification of Instructional Programs
Cumulative GPA of at least 2.5 (out of 4.0).

- Tutors identify and assist peers/classmates who struggle in your designated subject area.
- Learning Assistants setup and organize labs as directed.
- Submit records of tutoring or lab assisting and other assigned activities in a timely manner.
- Complete and submit activities as assigned by the posted deadlines.
- Complete all other program-specific assignments by the posted deadlines.
- Participate in social and educational IN LSAMP activities on campus and online.
- Attend the IN LSAMP Annual Research conference.
- Notify IN LSAMP campus coordinator of any desire to change a faculty mentor.
- Immediately contact IN LSAMP campus coordinator if issues arise that impact your ability to continue and/or complete the semester.
- Understand that all scholars are governed by the Ivy Tech Community College Student Code of Conduct and Policies as located https://www.ivytech.edu/studentcode/ while participating in project-related activities on and off-campus including but not limited to attendance of conferences. Any violation may result in appropriate disciplinary action, including but not limited to immediate expulsion from the IN LSAMP program and loss of support, and exclusion from future participation in any of the IN LSAMP programs.
