The Dean for Academic Support and Innovation will play a pivotal role in supporting the success of our academic schools. The Dean will work closely with the Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs, other Deans, faculty, and staff to foster a thriving academic environment.

Serves as an academic and administrative leader within the Department of Academic Affairs to achieve the College's mission and strategic plan initiatives. The Dean has the responsibility for supporting the Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs in planning, budgeting, scheduling, staffing, curriculum, instruction, program and instructional quality, student academic success and other academic matters. This position actively represents and promotes the Office of Academic Affairs and the College to students, business and industry partners, professional organizations, secondary and post-secondary articulation partners, and other relevant constituencies. The Dean of AS may review and coordinate dissemination of assigned classes in accordance with college loading policy and course objectives as needed. Proactively identifies opportunities and challenges for the Department particularly in the context of linkages to economic sectors, current and future workforce needs and instructional resources, the College's Strategic Plan, and the College's Development Office. This position performs all essential functions as identified below.

STRATEGIC SUPPORT :

  • Collaborate with Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs, School Deans and faculty to assist in developing and implementing strategic initiatives that enhance academic programs and support the institutional mission.
  • Serve as a sounding board and resource for School Deans, providing data-driven insights and analysis to inform decision-making.
  • Facilitate communication and collaboration between academic schools and administrative units.

GRANT DEVELOPMENT AND MANAGEMENT :

  • Aid Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs in the development and submission of grant proposals for external funding opportunities that support academic excellence and innovation, e.g. Carl D. Perkins grant.
  • Manage grant awards, ensuring compliance with funding guidelines and maximizing resources for intended purposes, e.g. Carl D. Perkins grant.
  • Identify and cultivate relationships with potential funders and partners.
  • COLLABORATION AND RELATIONSHIP BUILDING :

  • Foster strong relationships with Deans, faculty, staff, and students across academic schools, internal and external partners.
  • Serve as a champion for academic excellence and innovation, creating a collaborative and supportive environment for all stakeholders.
  • Represent the institution at external conferences and events related to academic support and innovation.
  • LEADERSHIP :

  • Work with the Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs and Division (Systems Office) Vice Provost and Provost to support the College's mission, strategic planning and College development initiatives.
  • Recommend instructional and general policies, conduct meetings to facilitate planning and collegial decision-making and to keep staff informed about issues and projects for the overall College instructional program.
  • Manage and support coordination of development and completion of the Carl D. Perkins Grant awards.
  • Participate in scholarly activities related to the discipline / focus including but not limited to repeat attempt reviews, faculty credentialling and academic / workforce initiatives.
  • Provide leadership for program improvement, development, review and recommend changes to maintain relevance of academic programs and to meet student, business and industry, workforce and community needs.
  • Promote excellence in learning centered teaching and promote faculty engagement in scholarly activities.
  • Link the College's Strategic Plan with Division (Systems Office) strategies, objectives and initiatives.
  • Ensure Division's (Systems' Office) compliance with applicable policies, accreditation standards and legal requirements.
  • Oversee the Learning Commons / Resource Center, Tutoring and Supplemental Instruction, and Academic Skills Advancement Courses.
  • Coordinate Teaching and Learning activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • ENROLLMENT MANAGEMENT :

  • Coordinate with Student Affairs and Marketing and Communications activities for student recruitment, advising, registration, retention, graduation and other promotional activities.
  • Develop secondary and post-secondary linkages, including the facilitation of high school-based dual credit initiatives.
  • Facilitate the development of course schedules conducive to student enrollment.
  • Participate in career services and alumni activities.
  • RESOURCE MANAGEMENT :

  • Develop and manage the Division budget consistent with college policy and sound financial management principles.
  • Facilitate data-driven analysis of information regarding curriculum related matters.
  • Facilitate program review process in timely manner.
  • Identify and prioritize Division (System Office) needs, secure available funding, and strategically allocate and re-allocate resources.
  • Confer with Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and faculty regarding ideas for program improvement to find resources for development through grants, College development initiatives and special projects.
  • Work with the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Regional Development Office to identify specific fundraising opportunities that support the priorities and needs of the Division.
  • STAFFING :

  • Interview and participate in selecting employees; orient, train, supervise, develop, evaluate, mentor, counsel, discipline and terminate personnel according to established policies and procedures.
  • Facilitate assignment of faculty to classes, monitor schedules and workload for accuracy throughout the semester.
  • ADVISING AND STUDENT SUCCESS :

  • Work with faculty and staff to assess students and continuously monitor their progress for success.
  • Ensure compliance with College policy to resolve student issues and assist faculty and staff to refer issues (student behavior, grade changes, etc.) to appropriate departments.
  • Provide student advising support as applicable.
  • Compensation : $90,000 - $94,500

    Minimum Qualifications : Master's degree required with evidence of professional and community service, and college service outside of teaching and administrative assignments.

    Preferred : a minimum of 3 years related teaching experience preferably with at least 2 years full time equivalency teaching in higher education. Credentials preferably in a program within the College.

    Official Transcripts required at time of hire, sent directly from issuing intuition to the Office of Human Resources.
