About this position:
We are seeking an experienced and skilled SQL Server Database Administrator to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our organization's databases to ensure data integrity, security, and performance. The DBA will work closely with our development team, IT staff, and stakeholders to ensure that our databases meet the needs of our business and are aligned with industry best practices.
Salary Range: 90k-150k - commensurate with the candidate's skills, experience, location, and qualifications.
On a day-to-day basis you will:
- Database Design and Implementation:
- Design, develop, and implement databases to meet business requirements
- Create and maintain database models, entity-relationship diagrams, and data dictionaries
- Ensure data integrity, consistency, and security
- Database Administration:
- Install, configure, and maintain database management systems (DBMS)
- Perform database backups, restores, and recoveries
- Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and optimize database configuration
- Data Security and Access Control:
- Implement and manage database security measures, including access control, authentication, and authorization
- Ensure compliance with organizational security policies and industry standards
- Data Modeling and Data Warehousing:
- Develop and maintain data models, data marts, and data warehouses
- Design and implement ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes
- Troubleshooting and Support:
- Troubleshoot database issues, including performance problems, data corruption, and connectivity issues
- Provide technical support to development teams, IT staff, and end-users
- Database Upgrades and Migration:
- Plan, coordinate, and execute database upgrades, migrations, and patches
- Ensure minimal downtime and data loss during upgrades and migrations
- Cloud Migration and Management:
- Migrate on-premises databases to cloud-based platforms, such as Amazon Web Services (AWS)
- Design and implement cloud-based database architectures, including data warehousing and big data solutions
- Ensure cloud-based databases are secure, scalable, and meet business requirements
- Data Migration and Integration:
- Plan, design, and execute data migration projects from on-premises databases to cloud-based databases
- Integrate cloud-based databases with other cloud-based services, such as data lakes, data warehouses, and analytics platforms
- Ensure data consistency, integrity, and quality during migration and integration projects
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of database designs, configurations, and procedures
- Generate reports on database performance, security, and compliance
Required Education/Qualifications:
- Clearance: MUST be fully adjudicated & maintain a Top Secret security clearance or higher.
- Security Certification required
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- At least 3-5 years of experience as a Database Administrator
- Experience with database management systems, specifically Microsoft SQL Server
- Strong knowledge of database design, development, and administration
- Experience with database modeling tools, such as ERwin or PowerDesigner
- Familiarity with scripting languages, such as SQL, PL/SQL, or T-SQL
- Knowledge of data security, access control, and compliance
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate with stakeholders
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
