What are the responsibilities and job description for the Art or Theatre Summer Camp Instructors position at IYB Recreation?
Location:
- Locations: Ithaca Youth Bureau1 James L. Gibbs Dr.
Rate of Pay: $18.25-22/hr based on amount of experience in the specific area.
Dates:
Both Roles:
- Training - 1/2 day or afternoon during 2nd half of June
- Programming runs for 1-2-week sessions from June 30th - August 15th
Hours:
Theatre Camp Instructor:
- Weekday mornings, afternoons, or both (9am-12pm &/or 1pm-4pm)
Art Camp Instructor:
- Weekday afternoons (1pm-4pm)
- Potential for additional hour at start of shift – Flexible
*Staff shift starts and ends a minimum of 15 minutes before and after programs or what is reasonably needed for a particular day’s set-up and clean-up.
Qualifications: Experience working with youth in a class or camp setting in Theatre or Art based programs. Experience leading programs in specific area and/or pursuing degree in that area.
Job Description: These positions work with youth between ages 4-12, depending on session or specific program (Theatre will work with younger ages for ½ day. The instructor plans and leads expressive arts activities and does or directs program set-up and clean up. The Lead Instructor reports directly to the Recreation Program Specialist, Coordinator or Administrator.
Job Responsibilities:
1. Planning, prep, clean-up, and leading of expressive arts area specific activities and projects.
2. Supervise participants during snack break.
3. Creates supply list that stays within the allotted budget guidelines and gives to designated IYB staff for ordering/pick-up.
4. Other duties as needed by the Rec Program Coordinator
