Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Housekeeper to join our team. This role is crucial in maintaining cleanliness, sanitation, and infection control standards across the hospital. The Housekeeper will be tasked with ensuring that patient rooms, restrooms, common areas, and other facilities are cleaned and sanitized regularly, in strict accordance with hospital protocols and safety guidelines. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, strong organizational abilities, and the ability to excel in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
· Cleaning & Sanitation: Clean and disinfect patient rooms, restrooms, and common areas; sanitize high-touch surfaces; ensure proper disposal of waste to maintain a safe and hygienic environment.
· Infection Control: Adhere to hospital protocols and OSHA guidelines to prevent the spread of infections; safely handle and dispose of biohazardous materials.
· Supply Management: Restock soap, hand sanitizers, paper products, and personal protective equipment (PPE); maintain organized housekeeping carts and report any supply shortages or needs.
· Laundry & Linens: Collect, process, and distribute clean linens; monitor linen usage and report shortages or damages to ensure the timely availability of necessary items.
· Patient & Staff Support: Respond promptly to housekeeping requests from patients and staff to ensure a quiet, clean, and comfortable environment.
· Safety & Compliance: Follow proper waste disposal protocols and PPE usage; comply with HIPAA regulations and ensure all cleaning activities meet safety standards. Report any maintenance issues or hazards observed.
· Emergency Response: Assist with emergency cleanup procedures, including spills, biohazardous material containment, and disaster preparedness efforts when necessary.
Qualifications:
· Proven experience in cleaning and sanitation of patient rooms, restrooms, and common areas within a healthcare setting.
· Knowledge of and experience following infection control protocols and waste disposal procedures.
· Experience with restocking cleaning supplies and PPE; ability to keep housekeeping carts well-organized.
· Ability to respond promptly and professionally to housekeeping requests from staff and patients.
· Experience in reporting maintenance issues and safety hazards, as well as assisting with emergency cleanups and biohazard containment.
Additional Requirements:
· High school diploma or equivalent is required
· In Knowledge of safety compliance, including waste disposal and biohazard handling.
· Proficient in cleaning & sanitation methods and infection control practices.
· Attention to detail and strong time-management skills.
· Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Physical Demands:
· Ability to stand, walk, and lift for extended periods.
· Ability to manage supply restocking, inventory, and linen handling.
· Ability to handle cleaning chemicals safely.
· Ability to assist with the physical handling of linens, equipment, and waste.
· Ability to handle emergency clean-up tasks and follow hospital policies and OSHA regulations.
