What are the responsibilities and job description for the Rental Yard Person (Q1 2025) position at J. A. Riggs Tractor?
The Yardperson is responsible for general maintenance and logistics of the Yard, as well as supporting the Rental, Parts, and Service Departments as needed.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Prepare tools for shipment to other stores and dealers.
- Properly dispose (check-in) all tools that are received for factory, vendors, and other locations.
- Assemble and disassemble work tools as required and ensure proper labeling of all tools.
- Maintain good order and cleanliness of the yard.
- Assist Rental, Parts, and Service Departments when instructed to do so.
- Greets customers in yard, helping direct them to office or unloading areas.
- Assists delivery drivers in loading and unloading work tools.
- Will be involved in washing and / or performing light maintenance on work tools.
- Has good working knowledge of all work tools.
- Makes final inspection of equipment before customer receives it, verifying inventory ID number, fuel level, and "rental ready" condition.
- Verifies fuel consumed and inspects all "detail" of equipment when returned.
- Installs "service tags" on equipment returned from rental.
- Moves "rental ready" equipment back to proper storage areas following routine maintenance procedures by service shop.
- Assists customers and delivery drivers in loading and unloading rental equipment.
- Gives customers start / stop and general operating instructions on rental equipment.
- Will be involved in washing and / or performing light maintenance on rental equipment.

The employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles.
