What is Power detention?
When a shipper or receiver holds a driver over the contracted amount of time for loading or unloading of product.
What is Freight Handling?
When a shipper or receiver does not load or unload product from trailers and we must hire an outside company to perform this service. This type of service is called a “Lumper”.
What are Power detention specialist’s responsibilities?
We are a call center that provides payments to drivers for various fees related to trailer operations, such as loading, unloading, service penalty charges, or pallet swaps.
We monitor task queues which provide detailed reported arrival and departure times at the shipper and receiver facilities and bill events that do not require authorization.
What does a day in Power Detention Freight Handling look like?
Billing specialists will sign into the teams call center queue where they will answer phone calls from drivers who need to pay an outside company(lumper) for a service, mostly to unload their trailer. The specialist will follow the required validation process to ensure the driver is in the correct location before issuing payment. They will stay signed into the phone queues throughout their entire shift unless they are on break or lunch.
In between calls the specialists will work through the power detention queues to validate the events and follow each customer process for accurate billing. All specialists are given a daily goal of tasks to achieve.

Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include skills, education, experience, geography, and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This position may be eligible for annual bonus and incentives based on profitability or volumes in accordance with the terms of the Company’s bonus and incentive plans, as applicable and in effect from time to time.

Key Responsibilities
- Communication with the internal and external customers to collect documentation for invoicing, inputting and processing transactions into billing systems, answering customer billing questions, and troubleshooting billing issues and inquiries.
- Understand and implement administrative systems, procedures, policies, and practices.
- Communicate with people within the organization (answer questions, address and escalate concerns or issues, resolve basic problems, input data etc.).
- Distribute/Track outgoing correspondence to external customers for return compliance and authorization.
- Prepare billing information and verify any changes to support accurate and efficient billing process and financial close.
- Understand contract implications and implement invoicing in compliance with customer's needs.

- Sunday - Thursday, 10pm - 6:30am
- $17.25hr
- 18 years of age with 0–1-year combination of education, experience and training
