What are the responsibilities and job description for the G.G. Selector (Material Handler) position at J.B. Martin Company Inc.?
As a G.G. Selector (Material Handler), you will be responsible for the efficient movement, storage and tracking of textile materials within our manufacturing facility, including receiving incoming fabric rolls, storing them in designated areas, picking and packing fabric based on production orders and ensuring accurate inventory records are maintained, often utilizing material handling equipment like lifts and pallet jacks while adhering to safety protocols and quality standards related to textile handling. This is a great opportunity for someone who takes the initiative, someone who is very organized and someone with excellent memorization skills. The hours will be 5 a.m. to 1 p.m. EST, Monday-Friday, but one must be willing to work some Saturdays if needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Pulling and preparing fabric to be dyed/processed for the next department
- Efficient movement, storage, and tracking of textile materials within a warehouse or manufacturing facility
- Receiving and inspecting fabric for color variations or defects
- Ensuring accurate inventory records are maintained
- Sewing and assembling fabric per instructions and customer’s specifications
