The EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) Specialist 1 will be responsible for supporting the daily operation and maintenance of EDI processes within the company, specifically related to Durable Medical Equipment (DME) sales and distribution. This role involves ensuring a seamless and efficient exchange of data between the company, healthcare providers, and insurance companies. The EDI Specialist will help facilitate timely and accurate transactions, resolve technical issues, and improve the company's EDI infrastructure for optimal performance.

- EDI Transaction Management:
- Support the processing and monitoring of EDI transactions
- Ensure the timely and accurate exchange of data between the company, healthcare providers, and insurance companies.
- Troubleshooting & Support:
- Provide first-level support for EDI-related issues, working with the IT team to resolve data transmission problems or errors in the process.
- Investigate and troubleshoot issues related to data discrepancies, transmission failures, or incorrect mapping.
- Data Mapping & Integration:
- Assist in mapping, configuring, and validating EDI documents to ensure compatibility with the company's systems and industry standards (e.g., 270/271 eligibility files)
- Assist in identifying and implementing improvements to the EDI integration process.
- Testing & Quality Assurance:
- Conduct testing of new EDI implementations and ensure that data flows properly between systems.
- Ensure all incoming and outgoing transactions comply with required standards and formats for DME industry regulations.
- Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain accurate documentation of EDI configurations, workflows, and troubleshooting procedures.
- Generate regular reports on EDI transactions, errors, and performance metrics to support business decision-making.
- Collaboration:
- Work with internal departments such as IT, operations, billing, and customer service to resolve EDI-related issues and ensure business continuity.
- Communicate effectively with external trading partners
- Education:
- Associate's degree in Information Technology OR 1-2 years of related experience
- Experience:
- 1-2 years of experience working in an EDI support role, preferably in the healthcare or DME industry.
- Technical Skills:
- Basic knowledge of EDI standards and protocols (e.g., X12, EDIFACT).
- Familiarity with DME-related transactions (e.g., 270/271) is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Analytical Skills:
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to interpret and resolve data discrepancies in EDI transactions.
- Communication Skills:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners.
- Attention to detail and ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Experience in the Durable Medical Equipment (DME) industry.
- Knowledge of HIPAA compliance and healthcare-related EDI standards.
- Familiarity with DME-specific EDI transactions and healthcare claims processing.
- This is a full-time in-office position with standard working hours Mon-Friday in Wixom, MI
- The EDI Specialist 1 may be required to work overtime based on business needs.
