Shipping / Receiving Forklift Operator
1st Shift / Starting at $20 per Hour / La Vergne, TN
JOB SUMMARY
The primary role for the Shipping / Receiving - Forklift Operator is moving material around the plant or work site with a forklift in order for production to run smoothly. In addition, this role may weigh, and load / unload material from machines and trucks, staging material in a timely and accurate manner.
DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Coordinates and expedites flow of materials, parts, and assemblies between sections or departments, according to production and shipping schedules or department priorities, and compiles and maintains manual or computerized records : Reviews production schedules and related information and confers with department supervisors to determine material requirements to identify overdue materials and to track material.
- Requisitions material and establishes sequential delivery dates to departments, according to job order priorities and material availability.
- Arranges in-plant transfer of materials to meet production schedules. Examines material delivered to production departments to verify conformance to specifications.
- Compiles and maintains manual or computerized records, such as material inventory, in-process production reports, and status and location of materials.
- Ability to load and unloads materials from trucks
- Attaches identifying tag or labels to materials or marks information on cases, bales, or other containers.
- 5S-Cleans work area, machines, and equipment to assist machine operators.
- Learn to safely operate all the necessary equipment in work area.
- Provides on the job training to new employees and resolves problems utilizing knowledge of shipping / receiving / stock operations.
- Operates material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks or dollies to move stock or reorganize storage.
- Ensures proper documentation and package marking with appropriate placards when moving hazardous materials.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
