Job Title: Resident Monitor – J5 Parole and Probation Revocation Facility

Position Overview:
J Bar J Boys Ranch and J5 Parole and Probation Revocation are 24-hour residential treatment facilities serving male teens in the custody of the Oregon Youth Authority. Youth placed in these programs have been adjudicated and may present significant behavioral challenges. J Bar J focuses on helping residents understand the roots of their self-defeating behaviors and employs cognitive restructuring in a strength-based, dynamic environment.
The Resident Monitor is responsible for ensuring the safety, security, and supervision of the residents through direct monitoring and interaction. This position can be part-time or full-time, swing shifts. Shift differential pay of $1.00 per hour is offered for hours worked Monday through Friday from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., and all 24 hours of Saturday and Sunday.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide continuous direct visual supervision of youth to ensure safety and security.
- Guide youth through daily routines, reinforcing expectations and holding them accountable through a token economy system.
- Actively engage and interact with residents while modeling appropriate behaviors.
- Build rapport with youth, guiding their behavior in a positive direction.
- Complete documentation in daily logs, behavior reports, and comment cards.
- Conduct searches of personal belongings and areas as needed.
- Respond to youth in crisis situations and utilize appropriate interventions.
- Maintain an awareness of each resident’s case plan and tailor interactions to support their treatment goals.
- During night shifts, conduct periodic facility checks and wake residents as needed.
- Assist with meal preparation, transportation to appointments, and participation in staff meetings.
Qualifications:
- Ability to effectively intervene and redirect youth behaviors.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Capacity to maintain a calm, professional demeanor in crisis situations.
- Collaborative team player with attention to detail and time management skills.
- Ability to retain and apply information about youth history, treatment plans, and the milieu.

Compensation:
