Position: Staff Development Coordinator
Summary:
The Staff Development Coordinator is responsible for empowering staff in a youth-serving agency through coaching, training, and mentorship. This position focuses on fostering professional growth, enhancing program delivery, and ensuring staff have the resources and skills needed to provide exceptional support to youth. The ideal candidate is an effective communicator, skilled facilitator, and compassionate mentor with a deep understanding of youth services and staff development strategies.
Key Responsibilities
Coaching and Support
- Provide individualized coaching to staff to enhance their professional development and performance.
- Support staff in addressing challenges and implementing effective strategies for youth engagement.
- Act as a resource for problem-solving and skill-building, encouraging continuous improvement.
Training Organization and Facilitation
- Identify staff training needs and develop tailored training programs to meet those needs.
- Organize and facilitate engaging and practical training sessions, workshops, and team-building activities.
- Ensure all training aligns with best practices in youth services and agency goals.
Mentorship
- Serve as a mentor to staff, providing guidance, encouragement, and constructive feedback.
- Foster a culture of learning and collaboration, promoting professional growth among team members.
- Build trusting relationships to support staff in achieving their personal and professional goals.
Program Development and Evaluation
- Collaborate with leadership to design programs that enhance staff skills and improve service delivery.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of coaching, training, and mentoring initiatives, adjusting approaches as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of staff participation, feedback, and outcomes related to professional development.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Work, Human Services, Organizational Development, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in training, coaching, mentoring, or youth services.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong coaching and mentoring abilities with a focus on staff development.
- Excellent facilitation and training skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
- Knowledge of youth development principles, trauma-informed care, and cultural competence.
- Proficient in planning, organizing, and implementing professional development initiatives.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with diverse populations in youth-serving organizations.
- Certification in coaching, training, or facilitation.
- Familiarity with adult learning principles and e-learning tools.
