What are the responsibilities and job description for the phlebotomist/medical assitant position at J Blemill Medical Center?
- Obtain blood specimens from patients per laboratory orders by performing venipunctures, centrifugation process and document results.
- Communicate with and assist patients in a professional and courteocus manner.
- Review the laboratory schedule, verify and complete orders. Identify the patient and confirm the correct patient record. Monitor and resolve orders in the electronic medical record.
- Complete appropriate laboratory forms documenting tests.
- Complete lab requisition forms and produce appropriate labels for forms and specimen tubes.
- Enter patient demographics, tests performed and diagnoses correlating to tests performed.
- Order and maintain adequate laboratory supplies.
- Clean and maintain the laboratory including equipment.
- Greet the patient; introduce yourself, escort patient to assigned exam room
- Interview patients to record vital signs and information such as test results or past medical history in medical records.
- Show patients to examination rooms and prepare them for the physician.
- Assist physicians when performing such task as giving injections and removing sutures.
- Perform EKGs
- prepare and administer IVs
Qualifications:
MUST BE BILINGUAL. Phlebotomy AND medical assistant certificate required. Excellent interpersonal communication skills, verbal and written. Background screening and Fingerprinting required. work permit required. Must be comfortable working in a fast pace environment.
