J&C Tropicals, a well-established and growing national tropical produce distributor, is looking for a QC Assurance Agent that will play a dual role in ensuring that all outgoing retail shipments meet packaging integrity and product quality standards while also supporting basic inventory management and forklift operation tasks. This position is essential for maintaining the company's reputation for high-quality products and efficient warehouse operations. The agent will oversee shipment inspections, assist in inventory organization, and safely operate forklifts to handle materials and stage orders.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Control and Shipment Inspections
- Inspect Incoming Shipments: Ensuring accurate receipt of goods in line with company standards:
- Verify Product Quality: Conduct thorough inspections of incoming shipments to ensure the products meet company quality standards, including freshness, appearance, and consistency.
- Packaging Inspection: Check that packaging is intact, free from damage, and properly labeled. Report any packaging issues to the appropriate teams.
- Review Documentation: Cross-check shipping documents (e.g., bills of lading, invoices) against the physical shipment to confirm accuracy in quantities, product types, and specifications.
- Identify and Report Issues: Flag any discrepancies, defects, or damages in incoming products or packaging, and notify the Inventory Manager or Quality Control Supervisor for further action.
- Coordinate with Receiving Team: Work closely with the receiving team to ensure shipments are unloaded, inspected, and stored promptly in the correct climate zones.
- Record and Document Findings: Maintain accurate records of incoming shipment inspections, including any issues identified and actions taken.
- Inspect Outgoing Shipments: Review and inspect outgoing shipments to ensure packaging and products meet company quality standards.
- Packaging Quality Control: Ensure shipments are securely packed, labeling is accurate, and pallets meet customer specifications.
- Product Quality Inspection: Examine products for defects, damages, or discrepancies from order details and handle them appropriately.
- Coordinate with Teams: Collaborate with inventory and shipping teams to verify that orders adhere to specifications and FIFO rotation practices.
- Support Picking Crew: Provide assistance to the picking crew when questions regarding product quality arise.
Inventory Management
- Monitor Stock Rotation: Adhere to FIFO (First In, First Out) practices to maintain product freshness and avoid waste.
- Storage Practices: Organize inventory within the appropriate climate zones and staging areas for efficient operations.
- Inventory Checks: Assist with inventory counts and identify discrepancies or stock-related issues.
Forklift Operation
- Material Handling: Safely operate forklifts to transport, load, and unload pallets of products.
- Order Staging: Assist in staging orders for shipment using forklifts and other equipment.
- Safety Compliance: Follow all safety protocols related to forklift operations and warehouse equipment.
General Duties
- Record and Document Inspections: Maintain accurate records of inspections, discrepancies, and inventory transactions.
- Follow Safety Procedures: Adhere to all warehouse safety standards and regulations.
- Problem Resolution: Address and resolve any issues with packaging, product quality, or inventory discrepancies in collaboration with management.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Prior experience in quality control inspections (QC), with produce experience preferred.
- Basic inventory management knowledge, including stock rotation practices.
- Forklift certification or experience operating forklifts.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify defects or discrepancies.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and follow safety protocols.
- Basic computer skills for recording inspections and inventory documentation.
- Physical ability to stand, walk, lift up to 50 lbs, and operate warehouse equipment
