Laborer

Laborer Position Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and hardworking Underground Utilities Laborer to join our team. This position involves performing a variety of tasks related to the installation and maintenance of Fiber Optic Cable. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, able to work in a team environment, and capable of performing strenuous physical activities under varying field conditions.

Job Responsibilities:

• Travel: Ability to travel Monday - Friday. Weekends may be required occasionally.
• Site Preparation: Clean and prepare construction sites to eliminate possible hazards.
• Equipment Operation: Operate hand and power tools, and basic survey equipment.
• Safety Inspections: Perform safety inspections of work areas to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
• Trench Work: Hand dig and backfill trenches, compact trenches.
• Material Handling: Carry and load materials to be used on the job.
• Support Tasks: Assist equipment operators, perform flagging duties, and spot operators.
• Maintenance: Maintain and clean tools and equipment.
• Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Physical Qualifications:

• Strength: Ability to lift and/or carry up to 75 lbs. multiple times during a work shift.
• Endurance: Capable of working at a sustained pace and producing quality work for long periods.
• Flexibility: Ability to climb, dig, work in tight spaces, walk on uneven surfaces, stoop, kneel, bend, twist, and push/pull.
• Environmental Tolerance: Ability to work outside in all types of environmental conditions, including adverse weather.
• Safety Compliance: Ability to identify and correct unsafe conditions and comply with drug/alcohol-free policies.

Qualifications:

• Licenses: Valid Driver’s License;.
• Work Ethic: Strong work ethic, excellent attendance, and accountability for conduct.
• Teamwork: Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.

Schedule:

• Seasonal position -
• Overtime as needed

Most work is within 2-4 hours of the Bemidji area. Must be able to work overtime, if needed.

Must be okay with Monday through Friday overnight stays on the job.

Pay: $18.00 - $23.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 – 55 per week
