General Description of Position: Assist skilled craft workers in performing their assigned duties.
Essential functions and responsibilities listed below:
- Tend pumps, compressors, and generators to provide power to the jobsite
- Mix ingredients to create compounds used to cover or clean surfaces
- Load and unload trucks and haul materials
- Erect temporary structures
- Measure distances for areas to be graded, or on which to erect structures
- Position, join, and seal structural compounds
- Performs a variety of tasks involving dexterous use of hands and tools such as sawing, erecting and dismantling scaffolding, shoring and braces, mounting pipe hangers, cutting, and attaching insulation material, etc.
- Places and vibrates freshly poured concrete. May mix concrete or mortar using portable mixer.
- Mops, brushes or spreads paint or bituminous compounds over services and applies caulking compound by hand or with caulking gun to seal surfaces.
- Lifts, carries and holds building materials and supplies, levels earth to fine grade using pick and shovel and measures distances from grade stakes, drives stakes and stretches tight line
- Grinds, sands and polishes surfaces such as concrete or wood
- Cleans tools, equipment, materials and work area
- Operate hand and power tools
- Perform job clean-up
- When not performing the above essential duties and responsibilities, may assist in other operations as designated by the supervisor
