Project Engineer

Project Engineer
The Project Engineer is the chief engineer on the project. They are responsible for all scheduling, engineering, material expediting and routine, on-site project administration.
Essential functions and responsibilities listed below:
Scheduling:
- Be proficient with use of the companys computerized scheduling software
- Assist the Project Superintendent in developing and updating the CPM schedule
- Maintain the project CPM schedule monthly
- Process all shop drawings and submittals:
- Coordinate and schedule shop drawings, catalog cuts, and sample submittals
- Review for completeness, accuracy, interface with other trades, and conformance to the plans and specifications.
- Create and maintain a complete and up-to-date record of all contract documents (changes and revisions) for the life of the project
- Maintain a complete and current record of submittals, approvals, and resubmittals
- Review weekly the completed status of the submittal schedule and analyze
- Prepare construction drawings for: (Dewatering plans, excavation layouts, formwork drawings, concrete lift drawings, underground pipe, line drawings, beam and other heavy lift erection
- Become familiar with the requirements of the contract documents
- Discover and resolve discrepancies in the contract drawings and specifications and at the interface between our work and the work of subcontractors:
- Write Request for Information and keep a log
- Offer suggestions for solutions to conflicts and coordinated with the Project Superintendent
- Quality control check of our work
- Maintain as-built drawings
- Monitor the project buyout and manufacturing process to expedite and insure timely delivery of materials and equipment
- Material receiving---Material must be properly inspected for quantity and quality. Insure off material is in conformance with the contract documents and approved shop drawings. On
- Set up control sheets to monitor material quantities for payment of material on hand and for tracking consumption rates and yields
- Field initiated purchasing and small equipment rental (3 quotes)
- Material source reports to TXDOT
- Set up and maintain the project filing system
- Prepare and/or reconcile the owner pay estimates
- Accumulate all necessary pay estimate data
- Record all quantities daily
- Reconcile all pay quantities daily (preferred), weekly (minimum) with the Engineer
- Prepare required documentation
- Follow up to ensure prompt payment
- Extra Work
- Identify and document all extra work
- Keep an accurate description and daily record of all force account work
- Estimate and process all extra work proposals
- Ensure extra work proposals become change orders expeditiously
- Follow up change orders for inclusion in pay estimates
- Initiate correspondence
- Job start-up letters to the owner, e.g., approvals for subcontractors
- Draft all other letters as needed, for finalization by the Area Manager
- Submit all Owner required reports, e.g., Monthly DBE Utilization
- Initiate, review and correct, as required, subcontractor pay estimates
- Produce agendas and take minutes of all meetings
- Obtain all permits
- Maintain daily records of our significant operations so that we may produce a job history
- Take job pictures as often as required to maintain an accurate and complete pictorial record of the job
- Review timecards
