SUMMARY OF POSITION: Experienced Grading Foreman. Minimum five years of experience. Mostly regional / local work within 50 miles of Lincoln, CA. Generally Monday - Friday. $45 - $60 hourly wage based on experience.
The Foreman is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the company’s projects which includes managing schedules, vendors, subcontractors, laborers, and operators. The Foreman ensures the project is completed within schedule and budget, with adherence to the company’s quality and safety standards. In addition, the Foreman identifies and communicates potential and actual variations from plans, specs, and existing conditions.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervise on-site operations of site crew to ensure productivity, efficient use of materials and equipment, and that performance objectives are met.
- Maintain a clean and safe jobsite, while coordinating trucks, material delivery, and traffic control.
- Must have a thorough understanding of contract plans and specifications.
- Examine/inspect field conditions and identify problems and inaccuracies.
- Communicate and document daily construction activities including site conditions, main items of work performed, materials delivered, trucking utilized, subcontractors on site, Cost Coded time for all labor and equipment utilized and any significant problems or concerns that affect the operation of the project or Company as a whole.
- Mentor and train crews under your supervision and help them to develop the skills and techniques that promote professional development.
- Recognize extra work and then ensure proper field documentation of the extra work.
- Keep crews accountable for safety and production rates and quality control.
- Comply, understand, and support safety initiatives to ensure a safe working environment.
- Identify job site safety hazards and take corrective action to eliminate or minimize these concerns.
- Maintain good client relations.
- Conduct and document daily huddle with the crew to review production goals, performance feedback, safety and schedule, and to solicit feedback from the crew.
- Must have the initiative, ability, and willingness to perform and assist with other job positions and duties as needed.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS:
- 5 years of related experience.
- Active listener with effective leadership, communication, conflict resolution and interpersonal skills.
- General computer/iPad knowledge along with experience using spreadsheet and word processing programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet, etc.).
- Knowledge of HCSS Suite of Products including MyField, HeavyJob and Safety a plus.
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities, capable of prioritizing tasks and managing multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
- Must be able to read and interpret site plans, RFIs, construction drawings and grades.
- Proficient skills with lasers, line and grade and GPS
- Knowledge of DOT, Cal-OSHA, EPA and CDL laws and procedures.
- Demonstrate excellent safety awareness and a willingness to comply with company policies and safety standards.
- Project a positive and cooperative attitude by building and maintaining a courteous and professional relationship with co-workers, customers, inspectors, and the public.
- While on a jobsite, you must always wear proper attire including safety vest, safety glasses when appropriate, long pants, hard sole/close toed shoes, and reflect a clean and presentable image.
- Trustworthy and dependable, including regular and predictable attendance and punctuality required.
- Must be at least 21 years old, have a valid driver’s license, and a clean driving record to operate a company vehicle.

WORKING CONDITIONS
- This job requires the ability to lift, pull, and push a minimum of 50 lbs., bend, stoop, kneel, reach, squat, twist, and climb heavy equipment several times throughout the day. In addition, you must have the ability to be on your feet regularly and use hands, arms, and legs repeatedly on the job. This includes frequently walking on sloped ground and slippery and uneven surfaces, as well as working in confined areas.

- Most jobs are Monday – Friday, beginning at 7:00 am with a 30-minute lunch. Depending on weather and workload, you may work up to 12 hours a day or 60 hours a week.
