We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Assistant Service Manager to support daily maintenance operations for marine and heavy construction equipment. Reporting to the Service Manager, this role assists with scheduling work orders, managing parts and inventory, updating maintenance records, and coordinating with field teams to ensure equipment readiness.
Assistant Service Manager Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Service Manager in managing daily shop and field maintenance operations.
- Assist in scheduling and prioritizing equipment repairs and preventive maintenance.
- Help coordinate with project teams to meet equipment availability needs.
- Monitor equipment condition and service logs to identify recurring issues.
- Assist in maintaining accurate maintenance records and tracking service history.
- Work with vendors to source parts and schedule outside repairs as needed.
- Support mechanics and technicians by providing technical information and ensuring proper tools and parts are available.
- Participate in safety meetings and ensure compliance with safety procedures and regulations.
- Help manage parts inventory and maintain organization in the shop.
- Step in to lead or supervise staff during the Service Manager’s absence.
Assistant Service Manager Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- 1–3 years of experience in maintenance coordination or administration; construction equipment knowledge preferred
- Strong communication, organization, and multitasking skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel; ability to learn HCSS360
- Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and capable of working independently
- Basic understanding of tools, equipment, and maintenance processes
- Ability to identify and suggest improvements for safety, efficiency, and cost control
