Insurance Producer I – Personal Lines

JOB SUMMARY:
As a Personal Lines Producer, you will retain and grow the book of business to which you are assigned to. Sales oriented position requiring advanced communication skills and a thorough knowledge of insurance products.
RESPONSIBILITIES:Essential Functions:
a. Contact prospective and current customers to solicit sales of Agency products and services requiring both phone, email, and outside sales activity.
b. Sustain working knowledge of all carrier change procedures and industry specifics.
c. Review daily, weekly, and monthly reports generated by our Agency management system.
d. Market to carriers.
e. Prepare quotes and proposals.
f. Schedule client presentations.
g. Initiate and maintain renewal controls on expirations and binders including annual policy reviews.
h. Retention of client accounts.
i. Identify existing customer needs and make appropriate recommendations. Handle telephone calls and/or emails with professionalism and follow up on any action needed related to each transaction.
j. Maintain client files within the agency’s automation system to ensure proper documentation.
k. Be familiar with and follow specific Company and Agency guidelines in marketing new business applications, renewals, and processing existing policy changes.
l. Greet clients and prospective clients extending courtesy, kindness, determine their needs, and direct them to the proper office.
m. Be familiar with and follow agency E&O guidelines.
n. Assist the department with any special projects or requests.
o. Participate in seminars and classes for skill and knowledge development.
p. Maintain open communication with department and office personnel to build teamwork and efficiency.
q. Keep personal lines guidelines and training manual up to date.
r. Prioritize workload and/or request assistance as needed.
s. Maintain production reports and attend all sales meetings as required.
t. Promote agency in community – Maintain proper business relationships with insurance companies, with the community, and with fellow associates.
u. Achieve personal objectives established in annual producer sales plan.
REQUIREMENTS:Minimum Qualifications:
1. Must be a self-starter, imaginative and creative with good communication skills both verbal and written. Should have a thorough understanding of personal lines underwriting and coverage.
2. Critical proofing is required.
3. Must have keyboarding and computer skills. Microsoft Word & Excel required.
4. Minimum 3 years’ experience in similar position is desirable. Must be licensed per state requirements.
5. Must be capable of working with and maintaining the confidentiality of sensitive information.
6. Must possess skills to maintain harmonious working relationships with supervisors, co-workers and customers.
Physical Requirements:
Light Work - exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Reaching, grasping, repetitive motions, stooping, crouching, standing, walking, lifting, climbing, kneeling, talking, hearing, pulling, pushing, thinking, concentrating and interacting with others.
