Position Overview

As a Budtender at J & J Cannabis Dispensary LLC, you will play a critical role in providing outstanding customer service and assisting customers with selecting cannabis products. You will help educate customers about strains, consumption methods, and potential health benefits while ensuring compliance with New Jersey’s cannabis laws and regulations. Your goal will be to create an informative and friendly environment where customers feel valued, supported, and educated in their cannabis purchasing journey.

Qualifications

• 21 years or older.
• Must possess or be able to obtain a state cannabis worker license (if applicable).
• Retail or customer service experience is preferred; cannabis experience is a plus.
• Experience with COVA POS system is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of cannabis products, strains, cannabinoids, terpenes, and consumption methods.
• Excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, regulated retail environment.
• Ability to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for long periods.
• Must pass a background check per NJ-CRC regulations.
• Must be able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.

Key Responsibilities

• Customer Service Excellence
• Greet customers in a friendly and professional manner, ensuring a welcoming atmosphere.
• Engage with customers by asking open-ended questions to understand their needs and preferences.
• Provide tailored cannabis product recommendations and explanations of strains, consumption methods, effects, and health benefits.
• Address and resolve customer complaints promptly and professionally, escalating to management when needed.
• Ensure customers leave satisfied with their purchases and have all necessary information about product usage.
• Product Knowledge and Education
• Stay up-to-date with product knowledge, including strains, cannabinoids, terpenes, and consumption methods.
• Educate customers on cannabis safety, legal compliance, and proper consumption techniques.
• Proactively inform customers about new products, trends, and any changes to cannabis laws or regulations.
• COVA Point of Sale (POS) System Operations
• Process sales transactions accurately using the COVA POS system.
• Verify customer IDs to confirm legal age in accordance with NJ-CRC guidelines.
• Maintain accurate sales records, handling cash, credit card, or debit transactions.
• Process returns or exchanges in line with store policies.
• Help resolve POS-related issues and discrepancies by notifying management promptly.
• Compliance and Regulatory Adherence
• Follow all state and local cannabis regulations, ensuring compliance during every customer interaction.
• Assist in compliance audits, ensuring required documentation is maintained and up-to-date.
• Adhere to procedures for safe handling, storage, and display of cannabis products.
• Sales and Performance
• Meet and exceed daily, weekly, and monthly sales targets by engaging with customers and offering personalized recommendations.
• Participate in sales promotions and initiatives aimed at increasing revenue and improving the customer experience.
• Foster an environment of upselling and cross-selling, while prioritizing customer satisfaction.
• Inventory Management
• Track inventory levels to ensure the store is adequately stocked.
• Assist in receiving and labeling new shipments according to store procedures.
• Maintain organized product displays with clear signage and pricing.
• Conduct regular stock checks and collaborate with management to reorder fast-moving products.
• Store Maintenance and Cleanliness
• Maintain a clean and safe store environment, ensuring all areas are organized and hygienic.
• Follow safety protocols when handling cannabis products.
• Assist with keeping the dispensary clean, including sweeping, sanitizing, and wiping down surfaces.
• Team Collaboration and Support
• Work effectively with fellow team members to maintain a positive work environment.
• Assist in training new staff and share knowledge on products, customer service, and POS usage.
• Communicate effectively with management to resolve operational issues and ensure smooth store operations.
• Volunteer for additional tasks, including opening/closing duties and managing product displays.
• Other Duties
• Assist with store opening and closing procedures to ensure the dispensary is secure.
• Participate in team meetings and training sessions to stay informed on cannabis industry trends and operational procedures.
• Complete other tasks as assigned by management to contribute to the overall success of the dispensary.
