About the Job:
This full-time position involves delivering products to customers on assigned routes, ensuring timely and safe transportation of goods. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for driving a company vehicle, managing your route, and performing pre-trip inspections to ensure safe driving conditions.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Safe Driving Practices: Drive the vehicle in a safe and defensive manner, adhering to all traffic laws and regulations.
- Route Management: Order your route based on the manifest you receive, ensuring efficient delivery of products to customers.
- Pre-Trip Inspections: Perform thorough pre-trip inspections on assigned trucks to ensure safe driving conditions and properly working refrigeration.
- Log Keeping: Complete refrigeration logs as required, maintaining accurate records of temperature controls and other essential metrics.
- Vehicle Maintenance: Notify your supervisor immediately if any aspect of your vehicle is not operating correctly, ensuring prompt repairs and minimizing downtime.
- Loading and Unloading: Ensure that the product loaded on your truck is the correct product as listed on the load sheet or invoice, and that containers holding the product are in good condition.
- Delivery Time Management: Check delivery times on your paperwork to ensure you can deliver products to customers on time. If delays are expected, communicate with your Route Supervisor or MOD promptly.
- Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service by informing customers of deliveries and resolving any issues that may arise during the delivery process.
- Maintenance of Vehicle: Fuel your truck prior to returning to the plant, ensuring adequate fuel levels for future trips.
- Parking and Vehicle Security: Park your truck where designated by Driver Check In, ensuring the vehicle is secure and accessible for future use.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Coverage: Deliver late deliveries to customers as necessary, taking on additional responsibilities to meet business needs.
- Routine Coverage: Take other drivers' routes to cover call-offs or vacation, ensuring seamless operations and meeting customer demands.
- Absentee Support: Fill in various warehouse positions when staffing is short, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in support of the business.
Qualifications:
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- High School Diploma: A high school diploma or equivalent is required for this position.
- Valid Drivers' License: A valid Maryland drivers' license with less than 3 points is essential for this role.
- Delivery Experience: Three to five years of delivery driver experience is preferred, with a strong focus on safety, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills are necessary for success in this position.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills are required for effective collaboration with colleagues and customers.
- Languages: Ability to read and write in English is mandatory; proficiency in Spanish is a plus.
Salary and Benefits:
We offer a competitive salary range of $19-$25 per hour, commensurate with experience, plus a comprehensive benefits package including medical, prescription, dental, vision, life insurance, voluntary short-term & long-term disability, employee assistance program, and 401(k) plan.
