Summary
We are seeking a Category Manager to join our dynamic team at J&J Snack Foods. The Category Manager plays a key role in supporting sales strategy through data-driven recommendations on assortment, pricing, shelving, and merchandising. This position provides insights to guide account planning, leveraging market, shopper, and competitive data to drive growth across Retail, Bakery, and Food Service channels.
Responsibilities
- Analyze category, shopper, and competitive data to inform Distribution, Shelving, Merchandising, and Pricing (DSMP) strategies.
- Deliver insights and lead presentations on category performance, assortment optimization, pricing, promotion, and trade effectiveness.
- Translate consumer and industry trends into strategic recommendations aligned with company and customer goals.
- Evaluate category performance, including product launches, planograms, and geographic expansion.
- Leverage syndicated and POS data (IRI, Nielsen, 84.51, etc.) for deep-dive analyses and customer planning.
- Act as Category Advisor to key customers, supporting SKU rationalization and planogram design.
- Support cross-functional teams with data-driven presentations and maintain tools/resources for analytics training.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Marketing, or related field.
- 6 years in Sales, Marketing, or Business Management, including 2 years in Category Management.
- Strong understanding of retail operations, syndicated data, and customer POS systems.
- Proven analytical and presentation skills; able to communicate complex insights.
- Team-oriented with strong project management and problem-solving abilities.
Travel Requirements
- 30% Travel for team meeting and customer collaboration meetings.
