What are the responsibilities and job description for the Color Operator position at J.Josephson?
Summary: Responsible to follow the Color Matcher SOPs to color match jobs on the print machines, print test samples and assist with the smooth operation of the print machine.
RESPONSIBILITIES - Under minimal supervision, perform all the tasks required to meet the printing process.
o Follow all SOP guidelines and standards (see attached SOP)
o Print test samples for review
o Match the color for active job and then prep for next job
o Float as needed between Print and Ink
o Train personnel on the print machine on proper color procedures
o Adhere to all Safety protocols and utilize all PPE as required (safety glasses, etc.)
o Ensure Hazardous Waste responsibilities/requirements are properly performed
o Prepare working inks and material for the project
o Run samples and make color adjustments in order to achieve a good color match
o Manage color efficiency and identify issues
o Perform Print Backtender responsibilities as part of the Print Machine Team:
o Operate the starting point of the printing process
o Properly attach new rolls into the machine and prepare the next roll for current project
o Make sure to have the correct type of ink/color for each project
o Make sure to have the ink/color needed for the next job ready
o Follow the work order sheet, including:
§ Interpret which pattern needs to be entered
§ Recognize name of pattern, film needed, and color
§ Request the correct number of yards needed for project
§ Accurately keep track of projects by keeping track of each finished job
§ Present required reports to supervisor
o Discuss issues with Print Operator or Supervisor
o Maintain a clean and safe work area
QUALIIFICATIONS
o At least 2 years of color manufacturing experience
o Knowledge of color theory and color movement
o Able to multitask
o Communication skills, Bilingual English/Spanish a plus
o Organizational skills
o Able to troubleshoot machinery
o Reliable and self-motivated
o Team player
o Knowledge of Color System
General housekeeping, Safety and Maintenance as well other projects/assignments will be assigned by Supervisor/Manager during machine downtime or production shutdown.
