Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced New Construction Commercial Superintendent to oversee and manage all aspects of commercial construction projects. This role is responsible for ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with safety regulations and quality standards. The ideal candidate is a strong leader with excellent organizational and problem-solving skills and extensive knowledge of commercial construction processes.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Project Planning & Coordination
- Collaborate with the project manager and construction team to develop detailed project schedules, budgets, and resource plans.
- Coordinate and schedule subcontractors, material deliveries, and inspections to ensure a seamless workflow.
2. On-Site Management
- Oversee daily construction activities to ensure adherence to project specifications, blueprints, and industry standards.
- Supervise subcontractors and site workers, ensuring work is performed safely and efficiently.
3. Quality Control & Assurance
- Implement quality control procedures to ensure all construction work meets company and industry standards.
- Conduct site inspections and promptly address any construction defects or deficiencies.
4. Safety & Compliance
- Enforce OSHA regulations and company safety protocols to maintain a safe work environment.
- Conduct regular safety meetings, training, and job site inspections to mitigate risks.
5. Budget & Cost Management
- Monitor job costs and identify opportunities for cost savings without sacrificing quality.
- Work closely with the project manager to manage expenditures and stay within budget.
6. Communication & Coordination
- Act as the primary point of contact between the project management team, subcontractors, and clients.
- Provide regular project updates, address issues, and ensure alignment with company goals.
7. Schedule Adherence
- Ensure all construction activities are completed on time and in accordance with project timelines.
- Proactively identify and address potential project delays or disruptions.
8. Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate project records, including daily reports, safety logs, progress updates, and change orders.
- Provide the project manager with regular status updates and reports on job site conditions.
9. Client & Stakeholder Relations
- Communicate with clients, architects, engineers, and inspectors to ensure smooth project execution.
- Lead client walkthroughs and address any concerns or requests promptly.
10. Problem-Solving & Conflict Resolution
- Identify and resolve construction-related challenges efficiently to minimize project disruptions.
- Work collaboratively with the project management team to develop solutions for unforeseen issues.
Qualifications & Experience:
- 5 years of experience in commercial construction, with superintendent or site management experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of commercial building methods, materials, codes, and safety regulations.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, specifications, and construction documents.
- Experience with scheduling software and project management tools is a plus.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites as required.
Work Environment & Schedule:
- Full-time position, Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, with some evening or weekend work as needed.
- Work primarily takes place on-site at commercial construction locations.
- Must be able to work in outdoor environments and perform physical tasks as needed.
