Part of a three-person crew for preparation and operation of six color KBA Metal Star 2 offset sheet fed lithographic press with trailing UV coater stand. Responsibility will be equally shared with both the Lead Pressmen and KBA Press Feeder to comply with all safety policies, practices and use of PPE. Performs duties equally shared with the goal of satisfying the customer and maintaining department goals. Will assist the Lead Pressman in all press operations as assigned and help Press Feeder maintain and feed the line. Will work to acquire potential abilities for the Lead Pressman position in the future. Will assist in the continuous operation of the press giving lunch along with pre and post lunch breaks. Above all else SAFETY is most important. SIO when in doubt shut it off. 

• Preparation of press feed section- Assists Lead pressman and Press Feeder in setting up the press per sheet size, install printing plates, fill ink fountains and maintain, and any other duties required to get press running in a proficient manner. Prepares for changeovers in advance. Follows Litho schedule, alerting forklift driver, retrieving new or next run plates and blankets, and obtains waster sheets for each size. Assists with wash-ups during color changes. Responsible for assisting in preventive maintenance of press and feeder.
• Inspection of metal and recordkeeping- Checks each load of metal delivered by forklift driver. Checks for dimensions, order number, grain direction and general condition of metal before conveying into feeder. Maintains Job Card by documenting operations performed on the work order, sheet count and spoilage count. Shares in keeping ink fountains, water fountains, and varnish bucket supplied.
• Setup of Feeder- Adjusts load for proper continuous feeding.  Adjusts for doubles and varying base weights.
• Responsible for tending 6 units on the 6 color KBA line-Must be constantly alert for correct feeder operation. Identify damaged sheets to prevent jams which may damage blankets, plates or costly press cylinders. May be required to sort defective sheets during production run. Relieve Lead Pressman at break times and during press operator vacations.  Trains as future Lead Pressman.
