What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Supervisor position at J & M Plating Inc?
ROLE SUMMARY:
This position supervises the employees and the resources necessary to meet or exceed company goals for the Production Department. These activities include staffing, scheduling, production efficiencies, chemical orders, material and equipment recommendations, etc.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Operations
- Plans, supervises, controls, coordinates, monitors, and measures all the activities related to the Department.
- Interfaces daily with Production Supervisors to schedule test and maintenance activities to minimize unplanned downtime in the production departments.
- Supports holiday schedules for unplanned or emergency Call in duty.
- Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal agencies related to Safety and Quality.
- Develops and implements sound ideas for improvement.
- Develops and maintains inventories of critical chemicals to comply with local, state, and federal regulators.
- Defines, implements, and leads the routine activities of employees.
- Evaluates systems and facilities with the Maintenance Department to determine maintenance or repairs that need to be performed to sustain the operations and/or be in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Participates in company quality initiatives such as Corrective Action, 5S, and ISO registration, etc.
Team Management
- Coordinates with Human Resources the hiring and training of Lab department staff.
- Organizes and oversees the schedules and work of the Department staff.
- Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
- Handles discipline and termination of employees as needed and follows company policy.
- Works with the accounting department to support appropriate levels of inventory on hand.
- Monitors compliance with the department expense budgets and takes action as necessary to stay within budgetary limitations.
The employer may require an employee to perform other duties as assigned on a temporary and infrequent basis.
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- High level of ability with spreadsheets and other analytical tools.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations.
- Ability to identify issues and determine repairs that are needed.
- Ability to plan Preventive Maintenance (PM) schedules and prioritize tasks as needed
- Excellent management and supervisory skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
- Ability to manage and work on a computer
- Honesty, integrity and a strong desire to succeed.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to deal tactfully with human issues with colleagues and customers.
- Ability to create and maintain cooperative team building relationships.
- Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors degree.
- Minimum 5 years of leadership experience in a Production Facility.
- Successful experience in budgeting and execution.
