Company Description
J.M. Thomas Forest Products (JMT) is a highly successful Building Material Distributor serving Retail Lumber Dealers in the inter-mountain region. JMT has distribution facilities in Ogden UT, Boise ID, and Denver CO.
Compensation: A highly competitive compensation program will be offered. Benefits include profit sharing, health insurance, dental insurance, life insurance, and a 401K program.
Reporting: The position will report to Eric Anderson, Vice President – Denver Division.
Behavioral Requirements: Successful growth of the company will require an individual with a high level of drive and professionalism in this position. The Sales & Purchasing Associate (SPA) will be directly responsible for the profitable management of his/her managed customer accounts and product lines. The individual must be willing to make tough, but fair decisions and deal with customer and vendor issues as they arise. There will be plenty of freedom to make decisions; therefore, this person must be able to think for him or herself and make good decisions.
This position requires a willingness to establish strong partnerships with customers, suppliers, and team members. Growth in both profit and market-share are expected, but tactics employed must be ethical and professional. This person should have the ability to think on one’s feet, ensuring that his or her commitments to employees, customers, management, and vendors are always being kept.
This person must be decisive and possess a high level of intensity and professionalism. While the culture at JMT is rewarding, fun, and collaborative, the management team and team members at JMT are highly focused and driven by growth. There is a strong team atmosphere at JMT, and the SPA must be a good communicator that enjoys working with others towards a common goal.
Experience in the building industry is a major plus, but not necessarily required if the right candidate shows that they would be a strong addition to the team.
Account Management- You will be accountable to achieve organic and long-term growth across all product groups with your assigned accounts. A high level of communication with your outside sales counterpart will be important.
Purchasing- You will be assigned products to manage that you will be accountable to grow. Product management will include being in a stocking position, not being over inventoried, and maintaining your turns / GMROI on all the items you purchase. You will also be accountable to increase sales, profitability, and volume of managed product lines.
