Accountant

About the Role

J MAR’s upstream energy client seeks a motivated Accountant interested in progressing their oil & gas accounting skills. This role is ideal for accounting professionals who have gained exposure to the oil & gas industry through public accounting, industry positions, or internships.

Key Responsibilities

• Production & Revenue Allocation: Allocate production, maintain the oil & gas production database, and gather, review, and allocate monthly revenue data.
• Reconciliation: Reconcile cash receipts against allocated revenue and ensure accuracy across various accounts.
• Data Management: Maintain and troubleshoot large data sets to ensure accurate revenue and production records.
• Reporting: Assist with filing monthly reports with various regulatory agencies.
• Collaboration: Work closely with the engineering team to resolve production discrepancies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
• Understanding of fundamental accounting principles and financial reporting.
• Familiarity with the oil & gas sector through internships, public accounting, or related work history is preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, with strong analytical and data management skills.
• Detail-oriented, capable of managing multiple tasks, and able to identify and resolve variances.
• Eager to learn and committed to understanding the intricacies of oil & gas accounting.
