What are the responsibilities and job description for the Directional Drill Operator / Boring Operator position at J & N Construction, LLC?
J&N Construction, LLC. is seeking a skilled and experienced Horizontal Directional Drill Operator/Locator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating equipment used in boring and drilling operations, locating underground utilities, maintaining safe work guidelines, and ensuring accurate boring paths. This role will require precision, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and compliance of given instructions and company policies. This position will require heavy labor digging, following directions, drilling, lifting, and teamwork. The position requires the employee to work out in the elements.
Pay: Hourly Pay is dependent on experience.
Requirements:
- *REQUIRED* Experienced directional drilling operator. (1 Year)
- *PREFFERED* Experienced in trencher/other construction equipment/horizontal directional boring operator. (1 Year)
- *PREFFERED* Experienced using different locator equipment. (1 Year)
- *MUST have a valid driver’s license.
- *MUST be able to maintain good attendance.
- *MUST be able to work in all weather conditions.
- *MUST be physically fit to endure the daily activities involved with the job. Such as but not limited to reaching, bending, walking, digging, lifting 75 pounds, etc.
- *MUST be able to pass a drug screening and a background check.
Responsibilities:
- Must be able to perform dig trenches and run heavy construction equipment ex: Ditch Witch & Vermeer Directional Operators.
- Report information about drilling process to the supervisor.
- Ensure safety guidelines are enforced and followed to guarantee a safe work environment at all times.
- Operate the drilling machinery ex: regulating pressure of tools, controlling the speed of rotary tables and air flows.
- Locators to run underground facility location equipment.
- Move drilling equipment to construction location ex: driving or controlling the machines to load and unload.
- Complete assigned projects including digging boring pit, directional boring, pulling back conduit, splicing conduit sections, pulling fiber, setting hand holes, backfilling, seeding, and core drilling.
- Clean, check fluid levels, and conduct a visual inspection of vehicle/equipment to ensure your vehicle/equipment performs at the highest efficiency and safety standards
- Operates boring equipment for installation of underground utilities.
- Hand dig around existing utilities when necessary
- Trained to operate tampers, jackhammers, drills, and saws
- Report any equipment repairs needed to Foreman or Supervisor
- Light repair and maintenance equipment to and from job site
- Assist in hauling equipment to and from job site
- Clean up and restore work area
- Wash and clean vehicles and equipment
- Other duties assigned
