Manages the activities of a department with budget, planning, and staffing accountabilities or manages a significant policy area with broad programmatic or Getty-wide impact. Primary role is to establish department objectives and to delegate assignments to subordinates. Interprets, executes, and recommends modifications to department or division policies. Decisions impact objectives, priorities, and work activities.
Manager I is distinguished from the Manager II position by the latter's responsibility for skilled labor and/or the scope and complexity of the department's work.
Major Job Responsibilities
- Applies extensive knowledge of area of expertise used by supervisory, professional, lead, or project staff
- Manages subordinate employees including mentoring, coaching, counseling, training, evaluating, and coordinating the employee’s work
- Provides direction based on organizational goals and policy
- Acts as an advisor to staff members to meet schedules or resolve technical or operational problems
- Works directly with internal and external clients on a variety of issues and projects
- Establishes operating policies and procedures affecting areas of responsibility
- Ensures that projects are completed on schedule and within budget
- May be responsible for participation in divisional/departmental budgeting and fiscal operations
- May provide recommendations that advance programmatic or organization-wide policy agenda
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- 3 to 6 years of supervisory and/or project/process management experience
- Proficiency in standard business software
