Traveling Construction Superintendent
To assist with supervising commercial and hotel construction projects from beginning to end, including job walk, working with project owner to develop timeline, directing all field staff, subcontractors, materials and activities necessary to successfully complete projects of varying complexity. In addition, to work with the internal Production Team to produce a quality product on time, within the project budget, complying with safety standards and exceeding customers’ expectations.
ABILITY TO TRAVEL FOR EXTENDED PERIODS OF TIME IS MANDATORY.
Position Requirements
- At least 10 years’ experience as a proven construction foreman, supervisor, superintendent or field project manager.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain access to Federal Military Installations (US Army Bases).
- OSHA 30 Certificate
- Cell phone and laptop for daily communication and project updates.
- Personal protective equipment, including, steel toe boots, hard hat and safety vest
- O&M Asbestos Training, Lead Renovation, Repair & Painting Training, First Aid, CPR & AED Certification. (Preferred)
- Ability to read, comprehend and pull measurements from blueprints and plans.
- Ability to accurately estimate job labor and material costs and project completion timelines
- Willingness to jump in and self-perform tasks when project demands require
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Ability to travel, for extended periods within the continental US. Project locations vary and will be discussed prior to contracting.
- Professional appearance and demeanor.
- Strong technological aptitude for daily photography, records management, virtual meetings and project & safety management software.
- Working knowledge of the MS Office Suite. Including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
- Strong customer service skills for interaction with property owners, general managers, and senior project management personnel.
- Ability to work in inside and outside conditions and additional hours as necessary to maintain project schedules.
- Physical ability to walk and review job progress at the construction sites in all phases of construction.
- Physical ability to make presentations and participate in meetings virtually, on the construction site and in an office setting.
Duties
- Work with production team to determine pricing, timeline, materials, equipment and staffing needs for each project
- Soliciting subcontractors to complete require project tasks.
- Create a detailed work plan which identifies and sequences the activities needed to successfully complete new and ongoing projects
- In conjunction with the project team, develop schedules for project completion that effectively allocate resources and subcontractors as necessary to complete projects in an efficient and timely manner
- Work with project team, field workers, subcontractors and property owners to meet or exceed project timelines
- When project needs require, jump in and assist with a task or phase that requires an extra hand
- Establish, develop and maintain positive business and customer relationships
- Manage project staff and/or subcontractors according to the established policies and practices of the organization
- Establish and maintain harmonious labor relations among job site personnel.
- Control and report on project progress with the PM and owners.
- Actively seek out ways to improve processes and exceed the customer’s expectations.
- Continually improve individual technical and administrative skills.
- Assume responsibility for safety, project quality, schedule, cost and self-performed work.
- Ensure all safety procedures, protocols, pre-construction paperwork, project paperwork, documentation, photos, expense logs and job binder are updated daily and maintained
- Work with project team to prepare and complete punch list.
Compensation
This is a full-time, W-2 position. Compensation will be commiserated with contractor experience and negotiated to a rate agreeable by both parties, billable by invoice at the negotiated terms. Compensation includes a per diem stipend, company sponsored health/dental/vision insurance, company matched 401(k) plan, PTO, Sick Leave, and paid holidays. Contractor must provide a current W9.
