Summary
The Mechanic works independently and with other plant personnel to perform preventative, predictive and routine maintenance tasks. This role includes troubleshooting issues, repairing failures of production and facilities equipment, and ensuring maximum equipment efficiency and effectiveness. This person provides direction for effective execution of maintenance activity on all machinery and equipment throughout the plant and office facilities. The Maintenance Mechanic is also responsible for the optimum utilization of available resources such as manpower, equipment, time, etc. This person must be responsible for decisions, actions and failures; must establish clear responsibilities and processes for monitoring work and measuring results. In addition, the maintenance mechanic must partner with others to get work done and work cooperatively with others across the organization to achieve shared objectives.

Schedule: Du-Pont (12hr. shifts, alternating on nights and weekends. Average of 42 hours worked/wk. 7 straight days off per month)

Key Responsibilities
- General maintenance of mining equipment with emphasis on mechanical repairs
- Normally works with others of lesser, equal or higher knowledge and or experience, however, may work alone while performing welding tasks, trouble shooting, analysis, adjustment, calibration, inspection, teardown, parts cleaning, and other assigned tasks
- Pre-shift inspections
- Work Safely
- Follow Safety Rules
- Understand and execute all of the tasks in the task training documentation
- Clean shop
- Mechanical repairs with limited supervision
- Minor and major equipment repair
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- 3 years related experience and/or training
- Preferred: Experience with heavy mining equipment, light duty vehicles and medium duty trucks.
- Valid driver license or equivalent

Knowledge/Skills
- Normal reasoning skills
- Use of Oxy/acetylene cutting and welding, along with stick\wire feed welding
- Understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical system fundamentals
- Understand how your work impacts others in the area
- Spill avoidance, control, and clean up
- Lift 50 pounds on a regular basis
- May be required to, but not limited to; sit, stand, kneel, crouch, climb, bend, and reach for unspecified time periods during a shift
- Work exposures may include, but not limited to, the following conditions: wind, rain, snow, extreme heat, extreme cold, noise, dust, humid, wet, heights, trenches/pit, repetitive motion, shock impact to hands and joints, chemical and electrical hazards
- Must be willing to work shift work, overtime, and holidays as needed
- Ability to comprehend and follow verbal and written instruction
- Must be a self starter with ability to work alone or in a team environment
