Summary

This role is responsible for the day-to-day administration of policies and programs covering several or all of the following HR programs: recruiting, salary, administration benefits administration, training, employee and labor relation, safety and personnel research. Provides input in the development of policies and procedures. (These are entry level, professional, exempt positions.) Individuals in these positions receive support and direction from Group and Corporate HR functions.

Key Responsibilities

Employee Relations & Advising


  • Provides leadership and counsel to managers and supervisors on employee relations matters, including disciplinary actions, performance improvement plans, and terminations, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Serves as a trusted advisor to employees, offering guidance on employment concerns, career development, HR policies, and attendance.
  • Escalates issues as necessary to the HR Manager, HR Business Partner, or corporate HR functions to ensure timely resolution.


Recruitment & Talent Management


  • Supports leaders through recruitment efforts for both hourly and salaried positions, informing them on the hiring process from requisition, interviews and candidate selection.
  • Conducts exit interviews and reports on trends and issues to management to inform retention strategies.
  • Manages and maintains employee records related to new hires, terminations, promotions, compensation changes, and other employee movements, to include managing employee files
  • Act as a brand ambassador in the local community, supporting events that enhance our talent management strategy by location (to include early career, skills gaps and future talent planning).


Compliance & Reporting


  • Ensures compliance with federal and state employment regulations, including EEO, AAP, FMLA, STD, and disability management programs.
  • Ensures documentation and recordkeeping compliance across HR functions, maintaining accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Assists in problem-solving for HR-related issues, working collaboratively with site leadership to foster fair and consistent policy application.


Employee Programs & Engagement


  • Assist HR Manager with engagement activities to include: VYV rollout and analysis, action plan creation and employee program implementation and support
  • Facilitate change management efforts by supporting leaders in implementing communication plans, ensuring alignment, and fostering team understanding and engagement during organizational transitions.


Payroll & Benefits Administration


  • Inform on the new hire information during the orientation process.
  • Oversees the administration of the company’s disability management programs, including FMLA, short-term disability (STD), and Transitional Return to Work programs.
  • UKG Payroll SME – to include timecard validation, bi-weekly audit, corrections, employee movement, and system support


Typical Education


  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field preferred.


Relevant Experience


  • 5 years of HR experience, ideally within a manufacturing or similar environment.


Qualifications


  • HR Certification strongly desired or willingness to obtain preferred
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state employment laws and regulations.
  • Proven experience in employee relations, recruitment, benefits administration, and HR compliance.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.


Other Information


  • This position will work at our Smoky Canyon mine and support all three of the Simplot mines.
  • This individual will travel one week a month in support of the other locations. One is in Vernal, UT and one is in Overton, NV.
  • There is no work from home option.
