What are the responsibilities and job description for the Junior Interior Designer position at J. Salmon Design Inc.?
The Junior Interior Designer position provides administrative and clerical support to the Design Principal. Their tasks include tracking and monitoring projects, creating CAD floor plans, elevations, and 3D designs in Sketchup. As well as preparing story boards for client presentations. A large majoring of their time will be spent working on CAD revisions and preparing construction documents as well as souring products, obtaining pricing, and tracking current orders.
- Track and monitor design projects and product orders.
- Set up new clients in systems
- Communicate with new and current clients via email and phone
- Prepare, manage, and maintain project binders, files, correspondence, drawings, etc.
- Create detailed architectural floor plans and elevations and prepare them for permit
- Create 3D drawings, story boards, and furniture layouts
- Research, recommend and track materials, finishes and client purchases
- Call showrooms and sales reps for pricing, check stock, lead-time, request CFA’s, etc.
- Assist with site measurements, installations, and photoshoots
- Provide general administrative support
Job Requirements
- 2-3 years’ experience in a residential interior design office
- You must have a degree in Interior Design or Interior Architecture
- Self-manage and demonstrate a high level of professional maturity
- Must use own car to run errands (will be reimbursed for mileage)
- Must be a problem solver, love to be organized and go getter.
- High proficiency in AutoCAD, Sketchup, InDesign, Photoshop are a MUST
- Must have a sense of space planning
- High attention to detail and be extremely organized with the ability to multi-task
- Strong written and communication skills and task oriented
- Must have a passion for design, a great sense of humor, confidence, and drive
Job Type: Part-time
Hours: Monday – Friday 10am – 2pm or 20 hrs/wk
Pay: $19 - $25 per hour and based on experience
