This position Is considered “Essential Personnel”, and a first responder to inclement weather and other emergencies.
This is a college-wide position and may be assigned to any of the college’s locations.
Working as a team member, the Building Maintenance Technician ensures that the safety of structures and inside appearance of buildings at all Reynolds Community College locations are kept in required working condition, in a safe and clean manner and restores malfunctioning equipment and systems to normal operation with minimal interruption.
Duties:
Performs assigned minor to major tasks with minimum supervision and limited or no instruction from supervisor.
Perform building maintenance operations in the absence of the Building Maintenance supervisor. Provides customer service in response to daily maintenance request.
Carries cell phone (24) hours a day to respond to “Call Back” emergencies within one hour of the call. The Call Back schedule is a rotating schedule.

May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
- Journeyman level expertise in HVAC, plumbing or electrical maintenance repairs and installations;
- Working knowledge of electrical systems and plumbing installation and HVAC repairs; demonstrates skills in the use of a variety of diagnostic tools, instruments and equipment, hand and power tools.
- Demonstrates ability to perform a variety of skilled repairs and maintenance tasks in the assigned areas;
- Experience in troubleshooting and repairing building maintenance equipment;
- Perform heavy manual labor and work from heights. Some experience in carpentry.
- Reads and interprets blueprints/schematics; and prioritize work.
- Demonstrates ability to work independently, and operate a personal computer and/or computerized maintenance systems.
- Has the ability to lift and/or move heavy objects and knowledge of proper safety techniques.
- Demonstrates the ability to follow both written and verbal instructions and to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Ability to work flexible hours depending on assignments
