What are the responsibilities and job description for the Estate Planning Attorney position at J.Sheppard Associates?
This successful and growing Trusts & Estates practice is adding to their team. Our client is seeking a well-trained Attorney with a minimum of 7 years of experience within a sophisticated Trusts & Estates practice group of a mid-sized or larger law firm, representing HNW individuals and multi-generational family clients.
The Associate will collaborate closely with partners and clients, and be responsible for drafting complex estate planning documents, estate administration documents, wills, trust administration documents and more. Experience with IRS and NYS estate tax return (706, 1041) preparation and audits also required. Experience with the formation and operation of private and public not for profit organizations preferred.
The ideal candidate for this client facing role must have experience in estate tax planning, estate administration, drafting estate planning documents, and administering estates. An advanced understanding of how to prepare and review gift tax and estate tax returns, perform top level tax research. Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, providing personalized legal advice and guidance on complex matters.
JD degree and bachelor’s degree are required. Preferred LLM in tax and must be admitted in NY State. Compensation consists of salary (220K-270K ), bonus and is accompanied by a robust benefits package.
