What are the responsibilities and job description for the General Livestock Caretaker position at J-Six Farms?
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Employee will be responsible for the overall well-being of the animals (swine facility). This would include daily chores, animal health, maintenance and upkeep of the facilities, cleaning, disinfecting, biosecurity, and safety.
Communication with co-workers and supervisor on a daily basis.
Biosecurity is a top priority with our farms to ensure the safety and health of our employees and our livestock.
Proper treatment and care of animals at all time is a must.
Qualifications
- Proficient in animal handling and husbandry techniques
- Experience with animal restraint and care
- Familiarity with farming and agriculture practices
- Veterinary experience and knowledge of sanitation protocols
- Mechanical knowledge and ability to perform heavy lifting
- Basic math skills for record-keeping and data analysis
- Experience with blood sampling and genetics, particularly in equine care
