Overview: J-Spot Services is looking for a reliable and detail-oriented Utility Protection Technician, located in Western Nebraska, to join our growing Protect team. The ideal candidate will primarily be responsible for accurately locating and marking underground utility lines to prevent damage during construction or excavation projects. They will collaborate closely with project managers, contractors, and utility companies to ensure seamless communication and coordination, keeping safety and efficiency at the forefront of every project. Key Responsibilities:
- Perform private and contract utility locates.
- Work directly with utility companies and contractors in the field.
- Respond to emergency and routine utility locate requests within the required timeframes.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Provide exceptional customer service to clients.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in utility locating is preferred but not required.
- Strong social and problem-solving skills.
- Clean-cut, professional appearance.
- Clean driving record.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test.
- Able to safely operate basic hand tools.
- Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently.
- Lift up to 100 pounds.
Physical Demands:
- Walking and standing for long periods.
- Lifting vault lids and carrying equipment; including utility location devices, marking paint, flags, and other tools.
- Bending, kneeling, crawling.
- Frequently drive long distances.
Working Environment Hazards:
- Exposure to varying weather conditions including heat, cold, rain, and snow.
- Uneven terrain and rough ground.
