Who are we looking for?
We are seeking an experienced Lead Technician with expertise in electromechanical systems and certification in IPC-J-STD-001, IPC-610, IPC-620, and ISO9001 or AS9100 standards. This role is crucial to our manufacturing team, responsible for the assembly, quality control, and troubleshooting of electromechanical components, focusing on meeting industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership: Supervise, train, and mentor a team of technicians, promoting best practices aligned with IPC-J-STD-001, IPC-610, IPC-620, and ISO9001/AS9100 standards.
- Assembly and Installation: Oversee and perform assembly, installation, and alignment of electromechanical components per technical drawings, specifications, and IPC standards.
- Standards Compliance: Ensure that manufacturing and assembly practices meet IPC-J-STD-001 (Joint Industry Standard), IPC-610 (Electronic Assemblies) and IPC-620 (Cable and Wire Harness Assemblies) standards.
- Quality Control and Inspection: Conduct inspections, tests, and quality checks to confirm compliance with IPC and ISO9001/AS9100 standards, addressing and documenting any deviations.
- Troubleshooting and Maintenance: Diagnose, repair, and maintain electrical, mechanical, and control systems to reduce downtime and improve system reliability.
- Manufacturing Process Work Instruction: Assist in the development of manufacturing work processes, document work processes, work with the manufacturing leads and managers to train staff on new and/or changed work processes, and assist in the development/design of manufacturing work process fixtures.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to optimize system performance and compliance, collaborating with engineering to maintain best practices.
- Engineering Documentation: Assist in the creation of CAD drawings/3D Models for manufacturing materials i.e., tooling, convert customer drawings to JTD drawings, etc., work with quality to develop manufacturing control plans/inspection plans, document material specifications for material that may be purchased as an off the shelf and/or off the shelf and modified, and assist in the development of test procedures for both manufacturing in process and quality lot approval i.e. pull test, functional test, deflection test, etc.
- Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, production, and quality teams to resolve technical issues and support new product introductions aligned with ISO9001 or AS9100 requirements.
Qualifications:
- Education: Associate degree or technical certification in electromechanical systems, mechatronics, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
Experience:
- Knowledge of electronic and electromechanical manufacturing and assembly.
- Hands-on experience with IPC-J-STD-001, IPC-610, and IPC-620 standards and ISO9001/AS9100 quality management systems.
- Soldering experience.
- Technical Skills: Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), digital fluency, dexterity, hand tools, production equipment, soldering, testing and analysis, mathematical skills.
- Skilled in reading and interpreting schematics, blueprints, and technical documentation.
- Proficient in troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and control systems.
- Experience with PLCs, control systems, sensors, and instrumentation.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement principles.
- Soft Skills: Strong communication, adaptability, leadership skills, problem-solving skills.
- Strong leadership and communication abilities.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a focus on quality.
