The services we provide range from grading, paving, hot mix asphalt and much more. J.T. Russell & Sons’ mission is to provide our customers with quality grading and asphalt products and services at a competitive price. We train our employees with up-to-date technology to make and distribute the finest asphalt products on the market. We are presently looking for an entry-level maintenance person to work in and on our equipment and locations throughout the Piedmont of North Carolina.

Duties and Responsibilities

· Willing to train desirable candidate in responsibilities

· Safely maintaining multiple asphalt plants, asphalt terminals, rock crushing equipment, earthmoving and paving equipment, and other company fixed locations.

· Safely maintaining warehouse where organization and good housekeeping are required.

· Opportunities for fabrication and welding, including maintenance of heavy equipment blades and buckets, and dump truck beds.

· Maintaining crew and company vehicles

· Respectfully showing willingness to get the job done right within a tight time frame in an ever changing environment.

• Abide by all local, state, and federal regulations, as well as all company safety procedures
• Commit to the overall safety of the work environment by always taking extra precautions to work with the utmost care and consideration

Qualifying Attributes for Employment

• Insurable Driver’s License and reliable transportation to Albemarle Shop
• Familiarity with welding processes (Mig, Tig, and Stick)
• Familiarity with a Voltage Meter
• Prior experience using hand and power tools as well as shop equipment and tools (fork truck, drill press, horizontal band saw, etc.)
• Working Monday through Friday 6:30 am - 5:30 pm; remaining flexible with 75% of work being done outside; Occasional Saturday work required
• Prior record of stellar attendance
• Demonstrating the ability to read a tape measure
• Employees must be able to stand for extended periods of time, stoop, bend and crouch as required. Ability to lift and carry, on a frequent basis, at least 50 lbs. and as much as 90 lbs. on the occasion. Frequently walk on uneven surfaces, including natural ground in varying weather conditions. Must be able to climb on and off ladders and equipment.

• Fabrication and welding experience
• Electrical experience
• General troubleshooting experience
• Experience with metal pipe work
• Familiarity with hydraulic systems
• Familiarity with asphalt plants
• Familiarity with heavy equipment

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 32 – 50 per week
