Jaburg Wilk is hiring a Litigation Legal Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have at least five years of recent Arizona or California litigation experience. The Litigation Legal Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting attorneys and legal teams in managing litigation matters including civil litigation.
Job Summary: The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, have a keen attention to detail and the ability to manage the attorney’s calendar and workflow. The preferred candidate is experienced in employment law, District, and Federal Court filings.
Duties include:
- Communicate with clients in a professional manner over the phone, in person and electronically; complete conflict checks prior to opening client files, prepare and send engagement letters, schedule appointments with clients.
- Maintains electronic client files in DMS - I Manage; organizes client data and information.
- Prepares trial exhibits, subpoena packets, trial subpoenas for witnesses, and other trial documents.
- Completes client data worksheets and may draft engagement letters.
- Edits, proofs and finalizes documents and work product for accuracy
- Manages attorney utilizing Outlook calendars by planning and scheduling conferences, depositions, travel, and other meetings; dockets and calendars all internal, client, statutory and court deadlines
- Serve as liaison with courts, court runners and process servers to ensure timely filing and service.
- Files pleadings manually and/or electronically with courts as required.
- Works in collaboration with paralegals and/or attorneys to manage case and projects efficiently and monitor tasks and deadlines.
- Actively participates as part of a team of legal assistants providing coverage and/or backup coverage for multiple attorneys.
- Knowledge of AZ Civil, Federal and District Rules. Knowledge of EEOC and administrative courts is desired, but not essential
- Able to file pleadings in State, District and Federal Courts
- Knowledge of AZ Court rules for docketing/calendaring is essential.
- Enhances firm reputation by always maintaining professionalism.
- Prioritizes tasks in a deadline driven environment.
- Other duties as assigned.
Work Environment:
- This position typically operates in an office setting, with standard office hours. Occasional overtime may be required to meet deadlines.
