What are the responsibilities and job description for the Chassis Auto Hauler- Detroit, MI position at Jack Cooper Transport?
Main responsibilities of Chassis Auto Hauler will include transportation of vehicles to dealerships in a safe, timely and damage free manner. Vehicles will be inspected for prior transit damage, loaded onto semi trailer in a piggy back stacking method, transported to destination, unloaded and delivered.
Detroit is considered a short haul terminal that has deliveries in northern Indiana. While away from home, corporate lodging will be provided to stay in hotels, as Jack Cooper's tractors are solely day cabs. Home time can usually be expected daily. Dispatch begins at 7am. You an expect to run about 220 miles a day with a Monday-Saturday work week. Paid orientation and training is provided. Average length of training is between 3-5 weeks.

Requirements:
- Minimum of two (2) years verifiable tractor/trailer driving experience. 6 months can be accepted with trucking school completion
- Applicant must possess a valid Class "A" Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with air brakes endorsement
- Must possess the skills to drive a vehicle safely and to pass a commercial driver's road test.
- No more than a combination of 3 moving violations/at-fault accidents in the last 3 years from date of application
- Must be able to operate a manual semi transmission and not have any automatic restrictions on license
- Must read and speak English sufficiently to converse with the general public
- No previous alcohol convictions in the past three years or any time while operating a CMV
Physical Abilities and Work Environment
- Must be willing to work outdoors, in all weather conditions, in a physically demanding environment
- Physical agility to include, but may not be limited to, walking, standing, sitting, bending, stooping, squatting, reaching, lifting up to 100 pounds, pushing, pulling, stretching, climbing and balancing
- Visual acuity, including but may not be limited to, close up and distance, peripheral sight, ability to discern color
- Ability to perform effectively at heights up to 16 feet
