Job Description
JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
The Cost Analyst ensures accurate cost records and keeps the records up to date. Tests and identifies opportunities for cost savings. Understands how activities and their costs are linked to products, processes and customers. Tracks monthly costs and production activity to provide insight into areas meeting cost reduction and process or profit improvement.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Essential Job Functions)
The duties and responsibilities of this position shall consist of, but not be limited to, the following:
Utilize SAP to perform process order variance analysis
Assist Controller with YTG forecasting and annual budgeting processes
Perform time studies to accurately understand labor utilization
Submit annual bill of material and recipe (labor) updates
Assist in annual standard cost roll process
Roll and review standard costs for new and materially changed materials throughout the year
Work with Continuous Improvement team to calculate and track cost savings initiatives ; Partnering with the business to determine and implement process improvements.
Assist with cost estimations for brand new items and new configurations as requested
Use SAP to perform and manage cycle count processes to maintain accurate inventories; making necessary inventory adjustments
Calculate and process period end close journal entries and accruals
Performs other duties and responsibilities as necessary
Qualifications
Required Education:
- Two-year Associate or Technical degree in Accounting, Business Management, Business Administration or related degree or equivalent
Required Experience:
- Prior experience in a cost accounting capacity
- Advanced PC skills, particularly Excel
- Advanced analytical skills and ability to analyze financial data, make informed decisions, and communicate financial implications/results.
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Attention to detail; ensure accuracy in financial reporting and compliance
- Experience using an ERP (ideally SAP) to control supply chain financials
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices
Preferred:
- Cost Accounting experience in food manufacturing
- Experience working with SAP
Prior business management experience

The work environment is a plant / office setting with varying degrees of temperatures and noise levels. Exposure to manufacturing equipment movement and wet / slippery floors. Travel may be required.
