Staff Accountant:
Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the Staff Accountant delivers truly great guest service while preparing daily reports, journals for entry, reconciliations of balance sheet items, reconciliation of invoices received for requests of payment from external business partners, and assisting with audits of revenue activity for Casino and Operations.
Role Responsibilities:
- Processes data according to established accounting procedures, facilitating timely and accurate recordings.
- Communicates with company personnel and external vendors to ensure accounting records are accurate and complete.
- Prepares correspondence, memos, file documents, copies and distributes to proper recipients.
- Reviews system generated reports for accuracy and completeness.
- Maintains supporting documentation for accounting records as deemed necessary per established audit standards.
- Reconciles documents, files and prepares items for record retention as appropriate.
- Notifies senior accountant or above of any potential discrepancies, and assists with research and resolution of problems.
- Performs advanced accounting functions in regards to gaming and non-gaming revenue, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and taxes.
- Available for on demand requests from management team as needed.
- Complies with and upholds company expectations including Code of Commitment, policies, procedures, industry regulations, department goals and business strategy.
- Acts as a role model and always presents oneself as a credit to JACK Entertainment and encourages other to do the same.
- Meets the attendance guidelines of the job and adhere to regulatory, departmental and company policies.
- Maintains upbeat, positive attitude, friendly and helpful demeanor, positive energy and enthusiasm from one interaction to the next.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Must be able to work independently.
- Must be able to sit, stand or walk for long periods of time (4 hours).
- Must be able to respond calmly and make rational decisions when handling employee conflicts.
- Must be able to maneuver throughout all areas of the property and from floor to floor either by stairways (minimum of 20 steps) or escalator.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.; and, have the ability to push, pull, reach, bend, twist, stoop and kneel.
- Respond to visual and aural cues.
- Must have the manual dexterity to operate a computer and other necessary office equipment.
- Must be able to tolerate areas containing dust, loud noises and bright lights.
- Must be able to work varied shifts, weekends and holidays as needed.
- Ability to simultaneously manage several projects, and not be frustrated by changing priorities and unforeseen obstacles to achieving objectives.
- Ability to speak distinctly and persuasively.
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English
Education & Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree required, with a major in Finance or Accounting preferred.
- A minimum of 1-2 years of Accounting or related experience required.
- Ability to communicate with all levels of management in a clear, friendly, and confident manner.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Familiarity of state regulations and generally accepted accounting principles preferred.
- Must be able to get along with co-workers and work as a team.
- Must present a well-groomed appearance.
- Must be able to maneuver around office areas, effectively work in high traffic areas and respond to visual and aural cues.
- Must have the manual dexterity to operate a computer and other necessary office equipment.
- Must be self-motivated and be able to handle more than one function at a time by being well organized.
- Good mathematical and strong aptitude for accurate record keeping.
- Excellent customer service skills a must.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
License Requirements
- Ability to obtain a Gaming Occupational License within the State of Ohio
