Meat Department Clerk

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE:

Meat Department Wrapper and Value-Added Associates are responsible for the customer’s experience throughout the meat department. This position requires an attention to detail and personal drive to become knowledgeable in the various types of product carried in the department. Our value-added meat selections are very popular with customers looking for high quality, low prep items. The meat department is a vital part of our store and we need an enthusiastic person who is dedicated to helping us meet our goals and give our customers a high quality of service.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Makes sure case and everything around it is clean and tidy; no messes or spills

· Helps merchandise the department and ensure displays look fresh at all times

· Maintains food safety logs of product temperatures

· Seasons meat and preps food for value-added specials

· Meat packaging accurately label and wrap cuts from cutting room

· Assists guests with finding items they are looking for in or out of the case

· Watches over service case for quality control, rotation of product, and keeps ample supplies available

· Makes sure products are rotated, using first in first out method, checking for quality control.

· Takes orders and other special requests

· Answers the telephone and assists guests using proper phone etiquette

· Addresses guest concerns and resolves issues

QUALIFICATIONS:

· Meat Department Wrapper and Value-Added Associates must have the ability to deal tactfully and effectively with customers

· Good oral and written communication skills and the ability to handle multiple customers at the same time

· Complete understanding of all safety requirements and company safety policies

· Knowledge of the retail food business, thorough knowledge of perishable department operations, merchandising skills, and must be able to make timely and effective decisions

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

· Meat Department Wrapper and Value-Added Associates must have the ability to lift 25-50 pounds in a routine fashion.

Pay: $12.50 - $14.00 per hour

• Customer service: 1 year (Preferred)
