Description
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Provide leadership, concepts, recommendations and programs to help ensure that Jackpot Junction Casino Hotel attracts and retains employees necessary for the companys success.
- Provide direction to Human Resources staff.
- Develop and administer procedures, systems and programs affecting employment, compensation, benefits, policies, employee relations, safety, training, employee communications, performance management and employment termination.
- Work with directors, managers, supervisors and employees to prevent and resolve issues and to build constructive workplace relationships.
- Assume responsibility for labor relations.
- Provide counsel to directors and managers regarding personnel issues.
- Facilitate meetings with managers and employees to resolve issues.
- Handles discipline and termination process as necessary.
- Manage Human Resources department staff and budget.
- Write Mission Statement for department.
- Formulate annual department budget.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
- Maintain current knowledge of labor laws, and monitor various sources for updates.
- Develop and manage with General Managers approval:
- Employment
- Recruitment, posting, evaluation and selection.
- Work closely with Employment Coordinator to develop and administer an effective recruitment strategy.
- Conduct interviews as requested by upper management.
- Compensation
- Pay structure development and administration.
- Administer classification programs and prepare wage administration policy.
- Write job descriptions and performance appraisal forms.
- Conduct research and assimilate data, and present to General Manager for approval.
- Benefits
- Design and administration.
- Work closely with Benefits Manager when obtaining bids upon insurance renewal.
- Confer with General Manager regarding benefit costs and employer/employee cost sharing.
- Strive to ensure employee understanding of benefit programs by regularly generating communication.
- Meet monthly with insurance carrier brokers.
- Employee relations
- Complaints and grievances, suggestions and special events.
- Respond to employee suggestions.
- Handle employee grievances to build and maintain positive work relationships.
- Develop and oversee employee special events.
- Create employee morale programs.
- Training
- Employee orientation, management, customer service.
- Conduct needs assessments.
- Purchase training curriculum.
- Develop highly effective orientation program that emphasizes critical importance and value of new employees.
- Contract with outside speakers for company training.
- Communications
- Employee handbook, employee newsletter, bulletin boards, employee suggestion box, text notification system.
- Write, revise, edit and proofread company policies as directed.
- Employment
- Manage unemployment compensation claims and procedures, and coordinate claims appeals.
- Administer 401(k) retirement program, including quarterly open enrollment, 401(k) loans, distribution arrangements, file maintenance, communication of changes to employees, timely processing, annual audit and 5500 filing.
- Follow all IRS regulations, and keep up to date on changes.
- Facilitate Drug and Alcohol Policy procedures, handle positive test results with employees, conduct meetings with employees as applicable, and communicate with assessors.
- Coordinate FMLA leaves of absence, and maintain communication with employees throughout medical leave.
- Coordinate Workers Compensation claims, and attend hearings as necessary.
- Oversee Hepatitis Program for budgetary purposes.
- Oversees HRIS software, including all updates and changes.
- Design personnel forms, and direct maintenance of personnel records.
- Serve as a member of the Executive Committee.
- Assists General Manager with research and special projects as requested.
- Meet weekly with General Manager, keep them advised of potential problem areas, and recommend solutions as appropriate.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in Human Resources Management.
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Business, Human Resources Management or related field.
- Experience with employment laws and procedures, compensation, benefits, training, employee relations and mediation.
- Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Paycom experience helpful.
