What are the responsibilities and job description for the Upper School Mathematics Teacher position at Jackson Academy?
As one of the premier independent schools in Mississippi, Jackson Academy educates more than 1,200 students in grades Preschool (age 2) to twelve. To fulfill this mission, the school is seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Upper School Mathematics Teacher to join our dynamic team beginning with the 2025-2026 academic year. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in education and a commitment to integrating faith with learning. The Upper School Mathematics Teacher will be responsible for:
- Teaching coursework in the respective discipline to upper school students;
- Designing engaging curriculum;
- Promoting a love for math while nurturing the spiritual growth of our students;
- Assessing students and analyzing results;
- Refining and differentiating classroom instruction based student needs:
- Collaborating with colleagues in our Academic Success Center to improve student outcomes;
- Communicating regularly with students and their families about classroom activities and student progress;
- Managing student behavior to ensure every student is fully engaged;
- Actively participate in professional development activities,
- Serve as sponsors of student organizations and participate in campus and community events,
- Support the mission of Jackson Academy, and
- Perform other related work as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education or a related field (Master’s Degree preferred).
- State certification in education or equivalent.
- Proven experience teaching mathematics at the upper school level.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to the mission and values of Jackson Academy.
